Mr. Avrashow was a named mediator to the Los Angeles Superior Court’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Panel. He now offers mediation services to private parties, utilizing his diverse experience and unique background in law, business, and government to offer a comprehensive analysis and a problem solving approach that is vital to a successful mediation.
Our mediation practice specializes in real estate, land use, construction, real estate finance, municipal law, leases and partnership disputes. Mr. Avrashow has testified as an expert witness regarding the fiduciary duties of business partners in a land use civil case. The law firm has represented international entities, national, regional and small businesses, and individuals.
Mr. Avrashow understands the legal and business issues involved, and can craft creative solutions to seemingly intractable disputes. As both a lawyer and a former business executive, he appreciates the “real world” costs of litigation and believes mediation can result in a cost effective resolution for all parties. His mediation style is one of direct negotiations and specific ideas on resolution.
Mr. Avrashow understands that legal positions which are important, but not determinative, may often take precedent and the involved parties can lose perspective which unnecessarily prolongs a dispute. An experienced mediator can offer alternative solutions that may not be apparent to the participants.
His skill in presenting solutions is demonstrated by his numerous appearances before government bodies and agencies in jurisdictions in Southern and Northern California, Nevada and Idaho. He has been a featured speaker in seminars on real estate and has held a California real estate broker’s license for many years.
Mr. Avrashow was formerly a corporate officer at both a privately-held and publicly-held real estate development firm, and held senior positions in Los Angeles City government. His knowledge of government and business was confirmed by his appointment by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to two County Commissions; the Los Angeles County Boundary Review Commission which recommended district boundaries to the Board of Supervisors following the 2000 census, and his current service on the Los Angeles Convention & Exhibition Center Authority Commission, including a term as the Commission’s President. Mr. Avrashow chaired a successful Los Angeles County ballot measure and co-authored two different County election ballot arguments.
