Land Use

Mr. Avrashow’s experience as a corporate officer at two Southern California real estate development firms (privately held and publicly held), and his public service to two Los Angeles City Council members as Special Assistant and Chief of Staff, provides a unique benefit to clients in land use issues affecting real property and businesses.

The firm’s real estate clients include publicly held real estate development firms, individual property owners, common area associations, and numerous and diverse businesses seeking discretionary approvals from government agencies and bodies.

A partial list of approvals obtained by the firm include:
zone changes,
general plan amendments,
variances,
conditional use permits,
plan approvals,
tentative tract maps,
parcel maps,
historical property designations,
mixed use developments,
Department of Building and Safety matters,
and environmental clearances including those governed by the California Environmental Quality Act (Environmental Impact Reports).

The firm has represented its clients in securing entitlements and at public hearings before numerous municipalities in Southern California, including but not limited to, the Cities of Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Victorville, Santa Clarita, Burbank, Riverside, and Glendale. In addition, the firm has represented clients before the Counties of Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura.

The firm was proud to successfully represent one of the first electronic billboards, the Jumbotron on West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip. As a corporate officer in two real estate development firms, Mr. Avrashow represented those firms before government bodies in Northern California, Nevada and Idaho. He also testified as an expert witness regarding the fiduciary duties of business partners in a land use civil case.
