Legislative/Government Advocacy
Mr. Avrashow held senior level positions in political campaigns and in Los Angeles City government, including Campaign Manager and Deputy Campaign Manager for two successful City Council campaigns. Mr. Avrashow served at the executive level for two Los Angeles City Council members, both as Special Assistant and Chief Deputy/Chief of Staff.
Mr. Avrashow has represented clients seeking government contract awards in such diverse industries as collection services, Public Works contracts and was proud to represent an ambulance company in the successful awarding of a contract to provide emergency response services in Los Angeles County.
Appointed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to two County Commissions, Mr. Avrashow served on the Los Angeles County Boundary Review Commission which recommended district boundaries to the Board of Supervisors following the 2000 census, and currently serves as a member of the Los Angeles Convention & Exhibition Center Authority Commission, including a term as the Commission’s President. Mr. Avrashow recently authored an opinion article on the proposed Farmer's Field/NFL Stadium on Convention Center property (click here to read).
Mr. Avrashow chaired successful Los Angeles County ballot measures and co-authored ballot arguments. In November 1998 he was Chairman for the successful Los Angeles County Ballot Proposition A (affecting the “Red Line” or subway). He has authored or co-authored ballot arguments for two Los Angeles County ballot propositions (Red Line Subway and Term Limits).
He has written opinion columns on public policy for the Los Angeles Daily News and The Los Angeles Business Journal as well as an article for The Daily Journal, California's foremost legal periodical, proposing legislation designed to help mitigate the state's foreclosure crisis.
